Works with · Alarm sensors

Every door, every room. Watched at home.

The sensors the alarm listens to: doors, windows, movement and leaks. They talk to the hub in your house, so the alarm keeps watching with the internet down.

Alarm sensors2 brands that join with no cloud

Every one talks to the hub in your house. No maker's cloud, nothing a month.

What they do on the hub

Joined once. Then part of the house.

Each mode, its own sensors

Home, Night and Away each listen to the sensors chosen with you. Night watches the doors, not the landing.

Every battery on screen

Each sensor's battery and when it last spoke, with a warning on screen before a battery dies.

Covers watched

A sensor with a cover switch knows when it is pulled off the wall. With the alarm set, that is the alarm.

A leak, the moment it starts

A leak sensor under the sink alerts you when it gets wet, and can sound the siren too if you want.

Brand by brand

The ones that join. No cloud needed.

Which models, and what each brand does once it has joined. Not sure about yours? Send us a photo and we will tell you straight.

SONOFF

Works locally

Zigbee sensors: SNZB-04P door and window, SNZB-03P motion, SNZB-05P water leak, SNZB-02P temperature and humidity. Not their Wi-Fi range.

The SNZB-04P has a switch under its cover: prise it off the frame and the hub knows, and the app says "Not clipped in" until it is back. Each one runs on a coin cell, with its battery level on screen.

SONOFF's Wi-Fi devices work through their maker's cloud, so we fit the Zigbee ones.

Philips Hue

Works locally

Hue motion sensors, indoor and outdoor, through a Hue Bridge.

Already have Hue motion sensors running your lights? The hub hears them through the Hue Bridge in the house, so the same sensor can light the landing at night and count as movement for the alarm while you are out.

They have no cover switch, so pulling one off the wall is not noticed.

What we leave out, and why

Not on this list yet: Zigbee smoke alarms. Not all of them report smoke reliably to a hub, and a smoke alarm must, so ask us before you buy one. Aqara's classic door sensors and IKEA's newest sensors are local too, but they are known to drop off the kind of Zigbee network the hub runs, so we do not put them on an alarm.

Questions

Alarm sensors, answered plainly.

Do Zigbee sensors work with a real alarm?

Yes. Door, window and motion sensors talk to the hub in your house, and the alarm uses them in its Home, Night and Away modes, with entry and exit delays set to suit you, and sirens and lights when it trips.

What happens when a sensor battery runs low?

The app shows every sensor's battery and when it last spoke, and warns you on screen before one dies. The alarm also tells you before it arms over a sensor that is low or not answering.

Can I use the sensors I already have?

Often. Zigbee sensors from SONOFF and Philips Hue join the hub directly. Send us a photo of yours on WhatsApp and we will tell you straight whether we would trust it on an alarm.

Is it a monitored alarm?

No, there is no call centre. Your family's phones are told in our app, and up to 12 more people get a message on their phone: words by default, and the pictures and the video when you switch that on for them.

Tell us what you have. We tell you what joins.

A photo or a list on WhatsApp is enough. We check every model, say what joins and what we would fit instead, and give you a fixed price in writing.

We usually reply within two hours, 8am to 8pm, seven days a week.
