Works locally

Plus Plug UK, and the Plus 1, Plus 1PM Mini and Plus 2PM relays fitted behind switches.

Shelly devices run on your Wi-Fi with no cloud needed and tell the hub the moment they change, so a switch pressed by hand shows on every phone straight away.

SONOFF

Works locally

S60ZBTPG UK Zigbee smart plug, and ZBMINIL2 and ZBMINI R2 relays. Not their Wi-Fi range.

SONOFF's Zigbee plug measures what is plugged into it and passes messages on for the sensors around it, so every plug you add makes the house's Zigbee network stronger.

SONOFF's Wi-Fi plugs and switches work through their maker's cloud, so they are not on this list.

What we leave out, and why

Plugs and switches that only work through their maker's cloud are not on this list. Some Wi-Fi plugs that once answered at home have changed how they talk to hubs in a firmware update, so send us the model before you buy.

Do Zigbee plugs use my Wi-Fi?

No. Zigbee plugs, such as SONOFF's, talk to the hub over their own radio and leave your Wi-Fi alone. Shelly plugs use your Wi-Fi, but never need the internet.

Can a plug show how much power something uses?

Yes, if it measures power, as the Shelly Plus Plug UK and the SONOFF S60ZBTPG do. The energy screen then shows what is using the most, right now and today.

Can I add a plug myself later?

Yes. Open Add devices and enter your PIN: the hub finds the plug, and you name it and choose its room in a few taps.
